Beethoven became a composer of the highest possible ambition and began sketches for some of his greatest music while in his teens.

In this course, the first of three semesters covering Beethoven’s life, we will listen to his music, discuss his beginnings, the role of family, his birthplace and history, his health, his humor, his love-hate relationship with humanity, and other topics essential to appreciating Beethoven’s incomparable genius.
