The class will read aloud and discuss one of Shakespeare’s final works. Prospero, a magician and rightful Duke of Milan, and his daughter, Miranda, have been exiled and stranded on an island. With the spirit Ariel’s help, Prospero conjures a tempest to shipwreck his enemies.

We explore themes of forgiveness, restoration, and power. The play is celebrated for its rich language, intricate characters, and a profound exploration of the human condition. (The Folger edition is preferred.)
