COURSES – SPRING 2026
(Under Development — Subject to Change) / Art and Music / BEETHOVEN: THE LATE YEARS 1815-1827
Coordinators: Arlene Hajinlian, Larry Shapiro, Jim Hopkins
Beethoven’s final period was a time of profound artistic and personal change and produced some of the most innovative and enduring music ever written.
We will explore how his deepening deafness and personal struggles coincided with a shift towards more introspective, spiritual and formally experimental works, while continuing to champion Enlightenment ideals. Use of live and recorded music will enhance the course.
