COURSES – SPRING 2026
(Under Development — Subject to Change)
/ Literature / TIMELESS WRITINGS: THE CANTERBURY TALES

Coordinators: Sheryl Harawitz, Mary Ann Donnelly, Judy Hampson, Andrea Irvine

This spring, we travel with Geoffrey Chaucer’s unforgettable band of pilgrims on their road to Canterbury.

Each tale – comic, bawdy, tragic, moral, or slyly subversive – reveals a different slice of medieval life and human nature. We’ll read the tales in modern English, exploring how Chaucer’s sharp eye, humor, and empathy continue to speak to readers six centuries later. Discussions will highlight the storytelling contest, the variety of voices, and what this journey tells us about community, class, and timeless human behavior.
