Questers will discover the thrilling world of opera in this course designed for beginners to buffs.

We will explore four centuries of musical drama, beginning with the baroque era’s mythology to the heights of romanticism and the modern works of the 20th century.

We will meet the major composers and see how opera mirrors historical, social, and political change. We will examine the relationship between music and drama, the evolution of vocal techniques, and look at some of today’s hot singers. No musical background is required, just an interest in learning about one of the world’s most dramatic musical traditions.
