ABOUT QUEST – Old

Quest was born in 1995 when a group of retirees was successful in securing the daytime facilities of the Center for Worker Education (CWE) of the City College of New York (CCNY) to initiate a platform for lifelong learning, exchanging ideas, and developing new interests.

Today Quest is a vital part of the CCNY family with nearly 270 active members who lead each class and self-administer more than 35 peer-taught courses each semester. Sessions for each course are presented every other week during the spring and fall semesters. Classes meet in the morning (10:30 am – 12:00 pm) and afternoon (1:00 – 2:30 pm).

(Note: This is the schedule when we meet at our 25 Broadway class rooms. During our Coronavirus-related absence from 25 Broadway, afternoon classes online meet from 2:00 – 3:30 pm). Almost all courses meet both terms, which run a total of 28 weeks (two 14-week semesters). Many of our courses continue from one year to the next. Classes are scheduled on Mondays through Thursdays; there are no classes on Fridays, which are reserved for group visits to New York’s cultural institutions.

Quest also offers a Summer session on Tuesday and Thursday mornings in June and July. If you are thinking about joining Quest, you can try it out for the summer for a fee of $100.

Our membership includes intellectually curious people from all walks of life.
