QUEST — THE IDEAL PLACE TO EXPAND YOUR INTELLECTUAL AND SOCIAL WORLDS

Quest in the Fall of 2020

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, Quest will be having all of our classes via Zoom this Fall. We will have classes Monday through Thursday in the mornings and afternoons. Classes will be divided between webinars, where the speaker will be the only individual using audio and on camera, except for the question and answer part of the presentation, and meetings, where all members will be seen, and able to interact with the presenter and each other. A full schedule of classes, including dates of presentations, and topics to be presented can be found on this website. The fee to become a Zoom member for Fall of 2020 is $150. Once classes return to our home at 25 Broadway, all Zoom members will be able to apply for full membership, by arranging for an interview with Quest’s Membership Committee. If you are interested in joining Quest, or want further information, please call 212-925-6625 Ext 229, and leave a message with your name and phone number. A Membership Committee member will return your call, and answer all your questions.

Our lifelong community was founded in 1995 by a small group of active retirees, based in New York City. Today we are fortunate to be housed in the Bowling Green facilities of the City College of New York (CCNY), conveniently located near both the east side and west side subway lines. Our mission is to provide an intellectually challenging orogram for mature adults who want to continue to learn, exchange ideas, meet new friends, and develop interests in a warm, welcoming environment.

At Quest we design our own curriculum, publish an annual literary and arts magazine, and organize more than 35 advanced-level peer-taught courses each semester. Subjects range from literature and history to science and math, and from politics and current affairs to philosophy and the arts. We also feature a Distinguished Guest Lecture Series that brings prominent people in a wide variety of disciplines to discuss their careers and experiences. In this stimulating, participatory community, there are no attendance requirements, no exams, no grades, and very little homework. People of all backgrounds are welcome to teach and learn. Our membership includes retired and semi-retired teachers, musicians, college presidents, doctors, dentists, lawyers, editors, engineers, reporters, actors, psychologists, librarians, artists, business people and more.

Classes are held during three semesters each year: Fall, Spring, and Simmer. Classes meet from September through December, February through May and in June and July. In the fall and spring, classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday in morning and afternoon sessions. In the summer, classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings only. One modest fee entitles members to attend as many classes as they wish. I encourage you to spend a day with us and see firsthand what an enriching adult education opportunity awaits.
